This picture shows how well the Park Service maintains the formal garden. The garden was recreated from historic records and photographs in the 1970s. The crude stick fence has been replaced by a white picket one. Beautiful plants and flowers now populate the garden instead of the vegetables once grown here for the Royal Marines.
