Adelia Chadwick and Luella Hume, holding child

Adelia Bradshaw Chadwick (R), and her granddaughter Luella holding an unidentified child. Adelia was born January 1, 1859 in Dungeness, Washington to Judge Charles Bradshaw and Bestsy Bradshaw. Betsy was a S'Klallam woman who died shortly after Adelia's birth. Adelia was likely raised with S'Klallam relatives when she was young, before living with a white family in Port Townsend. Eventually, Adelia took care of Mrs. Hezekiah Davis on Long Island. When Mrs. Davis died. Adelia married Sampson in 1877 and homesteaded with him by Watmough Bay.
