Lopez Store

Lopez store circa 1918 or earlier. Signs on store read: J.H. Hall Gotzian Shoe and Post Office Lopez. Back reads: the store over the water is Van Bogart & Johnson. The one on the left George Hutcheson (no relation to Hiram Hutchinson who had the first store on Lopez). The logs beside the road were piles for repairing the dock. The men in the foreground from left; 1 & 2 unknown, 3. Jack Lawson who had a blacksmith shop, 4. Charlie Stedlin. The men in front of the store are perhaps Van Bogart on left and George Hutcheson is perhaps the other one. Building on left was a store run by and part of the old Lopez Store warehouse.

According to the Friday Harbor Journal, 1/1/70, the photo was taken by James McCormack, an early Friday Harbor photographer. It is part of the McCormack Nash collection of negatives made available to the S.J. Historical Society by Margaret Nash who owns the collection.
